Our Transition Year SfR Project
|
Our class brainstormed ideas for the action element of this Schools for Resilience SfR project. Some of the class are also working after school for the ‘community volunteering’ part of our Gaisce award. Our group have decided to grow and source local seasonal vegetarian food for a community meal which will be held in the school at the end of November.
Our aim is to:
- raise awareness about sustainable local food
- celebrate the diverse range of skills we have in our group
- create a local, seasonal meal to share with members of our community
Following this, the class had a discussion about what roles each person would have in organising and preparing the event. The skills registers or questionnaire we filled out in Session 1 helped to organise ourselves into teams depending on peoples interest and strengths. For example: students who are like cooking or are hoping to become chefs joined the food preparation team, students interested in blogging or that had skills in writing articles joined the marketing team. Each team will have its own role and tasks to ensure the Transition Year Seasonal Meal is a success.
